Assistant Coach - Varsity
Coach Schilling comes to North Paulding from McEachern High School where he started coaching as a community coach in the fall of 2008 prior to beginning his teaching career in the fall of 2012. He spent his first four years teaching Low-Incidence Special Education before transitioning into Health and Physical Education in 2016. This move afforded him the opportunity to get most of his players into one weight training class five days a week in both the fall and spring semesters starting in the spring of 2019 which helped enhance the baseball program even more. He invested the last five years at McEachern as the Head Varsity Baseball Coach (2018-2022). Prior to becoming the head baseball coach in 2017, he served as a Middle School Assistant Baseball Coach (2009), Middle School Basketball Coach (2008-2010), Assistant JV Basketball Coach (2011-2012), Middle School Baseball Head Coach (2010-2012), Middle School Football Coach (2008-2009), Assistant Freshmen Football Coach (2010-2012, 2019), Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach (2013-2017), Varsity Football Offensive Line Coach (2013-2016), and the Head Freshmen Football Coach (2017-2018). As an Assistant Baseball Coach to Dan Torrenti he helped lead McEachern to a 22-4 regular season, a region championship, and a first round state playoff appearance in 2013 as he worked with the outfielders. From 2014-2017, he served in multiple roles working with the catchers, infielders, hitters, and base runners for Coach Torrenti producing a second round finish in 2014 and two first round finishes in 2016 and 2017. As McEachern’s Head Coach, his teams earned two first round finishes in the state playoffs in his last two seasons in 2021 and 2022. As a student athlete, Coach Schilling attended McEachern High School from 2003 to 2007, where he lettered in football, baseball, and basketball. He earned a total of nine varsity letters (4 in football, 3 in baseball, 2 in basketball) and a 3.875 GPA. His senior year he was honored as the McEachern Wendy’s High School Heisman, received the Iron Man Award, and received the Conley Burge Scholarship Award voted on by the coaches at the school. In 2007, he went to play collegiate baseball at the University of South Carolina Upstate in the Atlantic Sun Conference during their inaugural season in Division I Athletics. He earned All-Conference Academic Team Honors his freshmen year while at USC Upstate. He later transferred to Kennesaw State University where he would complete his undergraduate degree in health and physical education and begin coaching. Coach Schilling and his wife, Chelsey, have been married for eleven years and moved to the North Paulding area eight years ago. They are the proud parents of 4 children: Will (10), Addie (8), Maggie (6), and Livi Mae (2). Will, Addie, and Maggie all attend Burnt Hickory, Livi attends 2 year old pre-school, and Chelsey is a Nurse. While their kids have been attended school in this area, Coach Schilling and his family are thrilled that they will all get to be a part of the Wolf Pack family now. Coach Schilling has a passion for building men, students, and players through the game of baseball and is excited to be a part of the North Paulding Wolf Pack.
